Song Stories and Meanings

POOL OF TEARS

One day, as a little child, I had been playing outside in the summer time and walked on the porch of our house to go inside and get a drink of water. I heard my Mother talking to someone, and realized it was Jesus. I listened to my Mother as she cried and asked God to bring her family into the fold. When Mother finished praying I went inside and on her bed was a large wet spot where she had wept. It looked like a pool of tears to me. I never forgot this day. All of the family that Mother had prayed for was saved, including me. Prayer is a vital part of ones Christian walk with God.

CHRIST WON THE VICTORY

One morning I was having my Bible study time in the book of Matthew. I was thinking how God so loved that He is God The Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit. He is the three in one. God made Himself in the form of a man being born of Mary, baby Jesus. He went through persecutions on this earth. But He went further. While praying in the Garden He said, Father not my will but Thine be done. As I read in Matthew of all the torture that Jesus took before he went to the cross. I realized so much more His love for me. The Roman Soldiers and all unbelievers thought Jesus death was final. Christ death was accompanied by at least four miraculous events: darkness, the splitting of the curtain in the Temple, an earthquake, and dead people rising from their tombs. Jesus' death could not have gone unnoticed. Everyone knew something significant had happened.
The resurrection is the basis for the church’s witness to the world. Jesus is more than just a human leader He is the Son of God. Christ won the victory.

GREATEST LOVE

My husband Kenneth went to the mission field in Montana to build a rehab center for the Black Foot Indians. I had the privilege of going with him. As we drove in the Rockies I was looking out the pickup window and saw the snow caped mountains, the peaceful green valleys, streams of water flowing down the mountain. As I began to reflect on these things, I could not understand how anyone could not believe there was a God. Genesis chapter 1 tells us that God created the heavens and the earth and all living things. John 3:16 tells of God’s love for us. He gave His own Son to die in our place. This is the greatest love that we can imagine. As I thought on these things the song Greatest Love came to me.

REACH OUT TO THE MASTER

On my testimony page I shared with you of my terminal illness. I had never suffered like this before. Not only physically but mentally, being told by my doctor that I would only live six months. Loosing my ability to sing, talk and all over muscle tone was devastating. I was a pitiful sight to look at and to listen to. There were times I felt unloved and so alone.
The Devil really tried hard to win this battle. But God’s love, grace and His mercy prevailed. Trusting in Him, faith in the prayers from my friends and family are what saw me through. I was healed! God’s love did abound. In 1999 I was in my car driving to work. The Lord began to give me this song. I was going through another valley. God promised He would never leave me nor forsake me. Once again I reached out to the Master and claimed this promise. God didn’t say we would not have trials, but He did promise to be with us through them.

JUST MY LORD AND I

A number of the songs that I write are while driving in my car. I was going to work and was listening on the radio to some great preachers such as Adrian Rogers, Chuck Swindall, and Charles Stanley. Then came the beautiful Southern Gospel songs. Just my Lord and I were alone in the car. I began to rejoice in the fact that He came to me and I accepted Him as my Savior. It is good to be a witness for Jesus each day of our lives. Even more I rejoice in knowing that I have a home in heaven.

THE SAME WORLD

This song came about quite different. When one of our little granddaughter's was visiting us she hurt her knee and was taking advantage of all the attention that she was getting. Her papa thought he would show her a cut on his hand, then made the remark, "We all live in the same world. You have to be tough. Jesus will make it better." Kellie tried real hard not to cry.
A few months later we were all together and her papa hurt his hand pretty bad. In most cases papa is quiet and strong, however, he did whine a little. Kellie looked up at her papa and said, " Papa, we all live in the same world, don't we? You have to be tough!" Our family had a good laugh.
Jesus does make things better. We all do live in the same world. Isn't it wonderful to know that He loves each one of us unconditionally, no matter what race, color, or creed. Jesus died for everyone. Showing no partiality.

POWER SOURCE

This is the first song that the Lord gave me to write, sing and bring glory to His name. I was sitting in church and the preacher was preaching about our source of power for salvation and daily living. I began to receive these words and a tune. I realized that Christ died for me and believed that He is our only source of power.

For God so loved the world, that He gave
His only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in Him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
